The Alternative Weekend
August Bank-holiday 1988 saw CCRC racing to Le Havre for a long weekend. The weather was not good and in the late evening of Friday, August 26th, several boats turned back. Coincidentally, most put into Haslar for the night and, on meeting up on the Saturday morning, decided to run three fun races in the Solent. This became known as "The Alternative Weekend". These photographs were taken on film cameras (pre-digital era) and were scanned in several years ago. Bill and Den Cartlidge hosted a bit of a party on Penrose II to help me celebrate my 39th birthday. My boat, at that time, was a UFO 27, The Advocate, also pictured in this gallery.
